The public benefit is now used to pay for marketing their transformative policies

Clearly the past 5 months of talking about high utility bills going into an election had no impact on the election in Connecticut.  Despite massive uproar by 68,000 angry utility customers, publications, hearings by the Connecticut House Republicans and State Senators, none of this moved the needle.

Instead, Connecticut went more blue and democrats have super-majorities in the House and Senate. The demographics do not support a super-majority, but it happened. The Party Registration Statistics for CT (according to the Independent Voter Project) which relies on L2 data (which is some of the best) is as follows:

Total Registered Voters: 2,317,657

• Democrats: 837,193 (36.12%)

• Republicans: 470,471 (20.30%)

• Third Party/Other: 36,013 (1.55%)

• Unaffiliated: 973,980 (42.02%)

Connecticut is a state with more than 1 million Unaffiliated and Third Party voters (almost 44 percent). They outnumber either party. Where is their representation in the super-majority democrat run state?

As we have talked about, Connecticut went bluer and more to the left and homeowners and business owners are left further in the red while the state legislature from the top down pushes the broken green agenda ad nauseum.

There will continue to be real pocketbook issues until there is major change in this state.  It has been beyond disgusting to watch the bills keep going up.

To add insult to injury, if you are on any social media or use a computer, it is impossible in the Eversource region to see absurd ads:

Yeah - These Lovely Ads as we finally get into the thick of heating season is - “Paid for by a charge on customer energy bills.”

Enough is Enough

Yes - the rates are high and you are paying for the Eversource marketing and cheerleading squad to improve commercial businesses at the expense of the residential consumer. Last time we checked, companies are not voters. Also, shouldn’t the utility companies that benefit by not having to supply as much electricity and/or make rapid upgrades due to power savings, be the ones to make the investment and amortize it? Not here in Connecticut - It is your job now John and Jane Q. Taxpayer thanks to shoddy legislation.

Operation Utility Stupidity - The Green New Deal - Feeling a little Verklempt

If you used to watch Saturday Night Live there was Coffee Talk, hosted by Linda Richman (Mike Myers) and issues would get Linda upset or “verklempt”. Well we should all be as this Connecticut Green New Deal is neither Green, nor New, nor a Deal.

There is the issue of energy reliability and supply and the green new deal fantasy has not left the state. See a recent article showing the fight we have been talking about for months - Windmills versus reality. Step aside Don Quixote, Gov. Lamont is determined to build the windmills.

We know offshore wind is not the answer, but it is Lamont’s mission; he does not care whether these windmills will reduce costs. Even Eversource sold its investment in Revolution Wind - the Offshore project off Rhode Island but they will remain as a construction manager.

The Public Benefits continues to benefit everyone but the public. Your Republican representatives in the Statehouse have been pushing to move these outrageous fees, subsidies, and now marketing expenses from your bills to the state budget and they also have proposed to separate– the Public Utilities Regulatory Authority (PURA) – from the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP). There are just not enough of them and the public is just not outraged enough.

What is the Solution?

Nuclear and Natural Gas are the solutions for real reliable energy in the Constitution State. This push by Lamont to set Connecticut sails on wind power and off-shore wind is a major mistake. While this secures jobs for quite some time for some labor unions, we must look to meaningful long-term jobs in Connecticut.

Manufacturing is the Solution and we are still below Pandemic levels of manufacturing employment.

It is time to make major changes and it is time to take a meaningful stance and really fight back the utility companies.
