Liberty from the Battlefield to the Ballot Box - Happy Independence Day

Dear Fellow Americans, on this 4th of July Holiday, it is critical that we remember why we started a revolution to declare our independence. We faced taxation without representation. We were ruled by a government that was not in touch with the people. Our values and ideals were not being respected.
So, on July 4, 1776, a group of patriots that represented the 13 original colonies adopted this declaration of independence.
Fast forward 248 Years later. In this State of Connecticut and across our country, we are back to a time to declare our independence in a different way. We need to declare our freedom at the ballot box. Ronald Reagan’s said it best: “Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We didn't pass it to our children in the bloodstream. It must be fought for, protected, and handed on for them to do the same, or one day we will spend our sunset years telling our children and our children's children what it was once like in the United States where men were free.”
I am running to represent Connecticut, a state that has been overlooked for too long. We are ignored and you have been ignored.
Our revolution started with these 56 brave men and the souls of so many more that fought for freedom that we enjoy today. As that revolution started with a grass roots effort, so does this campaign.
There is an excerpt from a speech I gave that speaks to this need to stand up and fight.
Thurgood Marshall said, “where you see wrong or inequality or injustice, speak out. Because this is your country. This is your democracy. Make it protect it. Pass it on.”
So pass it on this August 13th with early voting August 5-11. The battle to win our freedom back is at ballot box and you can do your part by spreading this message to your friends to follow us, and go to the polls.
As Thomas Paine wrote, “Those who expect to reap the blessings of freedom, must, like men, undergo the fatigue of supporting it.” Be encouraged this August and together we will win big in November.
When you are out at your BBQs and events this holiday weekend and you see a veteran - please thank them for their service as the defenders of liberty and freedom as there are many we have lost defending Old Glory. We are the land of the free because of the brave.
