Subsidize This – Why Should Gas Powered Cars Owners Subsidize the Building of EV Charging Stations
The Green New Deal is in the Red
This Green New Deal of Connecticut and this nation has been all about paying for your neighbor to put in Solar Panels. This is a subsidy for an inefficient and uneconomical form of electricity for us in Connecticut. As I have been saying - micro nuclear and expansion of natural gas are my Federal Energy Policies for my campaign.
If solar is so great - SunPower, one of the country’s top rooftop solar installers, recently declared bankruptcy and many others are struggling like Titan Solar Power and Sunworks.
A recent editorial in the Wall Street Journal entitled : “Another Green Energy Subsidy Bust SunPower files for bankruptcy, thanks in part to Biden’s tariffs (see article)
Our economy is powered and grew on gas and diesel engines. Good paying American jobs were created and supported through the production and use of gas and diesel and magically, small business owners of gas stations profited and created jobs.
Gas stations are not a business in need of a subsidy and state and federal taxes are also generated for every gallon of gas sold. So it’s a win-win until the EV charging stations which are a lose-lose.
In addition to wasting your time while you wait to charge your EV, these EV self-operated stations are losers and unprofitable to build. It is simple, where there is a subsidy, its either a necessity or a loser.
Where gas stations raise tax revenue, EV stations spend tax payer money. Most charging stations are self-operated and almost no labor is required. No land is needed like a gas station for tanks and infrastructure. You can just install one in a parking space. Yet these subsidized companies are going bankrupt.
So why is it that an EV charging station which pays no state and federal highway taxes, does not require labor to deliver and sell the energy, does not require the labor and trucking costs to deliver the energy so unprofitable that it needs to be subsidized?
We have been paying taxes for far to long to subsidize green energy policies.
They keep forgetting the Deal part of the Green New Deal - there is no Deal to be had. Where are all the Green New Deal jobs from the Inflation Reduction Act?
It is time for us to stop subsidizing failing green energy ventures, with taxpayer money, that are not economically viable. That includes the offshore wind projects that are here in Connecticut.
Green energy like any other business needs to become competitive to succeed.
Say no to the subsidies for EV charging stations.
It is time for the taxpayers to stop subsidizing unprofitable businesses through taxes and higher utility rates.
We have enough pain at the pump thanks to Mr. Jim Himes and the Biden/Harris Administration. This election is a referendum and a restoration of common sense economics that you pay for what you use and you stop paying for your neighbor’s bad choices.
Any support is appreciated as we have a race to win, a State to take back and a Country to Heal. Together we can get it done. Not looking for a subsidy but to return your investment in me with sensible leadership.
Thanks
