Excellent, Dr. Goldstein! Explaining our utility bills is a public service on your part. We, the people, are being taxed every which way without our consent and knowledge. Every single bill is loaded with hidden extra taxes. I wish gov’t types would go with me to the grocery store and watch other shoppers put things quietly back on the shelves as they realize they can’t afford that item that day. Do Himes and others see us??
Although the State is free to tax us and distribute the money to low income people to pay their utility bills, I do not believe that the Constitution permits the state to force utility customers to do so in utility rates. That seems collectivist to me.
Well it’s a tax and at the very least you should get a deduction- thanks please spread the word and get out and vote - early voting starts a Monday - that’s one way to fight make your voice heard
The public systems benefit charge is much more complicated than you say. Most of the money is for energy conservation programs that help working class families and businesses quite a bit. But I forgot your party does not believe in energy conservation or global warming but in any case please stop spreading lies just to work people up and get them angry so they vote for you. Typical GOP politics.
Not against energy conservation - Especially as we do not have enough energy in Connecticut and our nuclear plants are becoming obsolete. We are conservatives and do not believe in waste. What we object to is being forced to pay for something where we are getting taxed. Since it is a tax and this public benefit is for the public, we should get a deduction from our taxes.

And given that taxes have to be imposed by the General Assembly, this one is clearly illegal.
